Installed on the 5th floor - Mental Health Inpatient (houses Adult Mental Health & Addictions, Child & Adolescent Mental Health), the products aid in creating a peaceful atmosphere on both the Adult and Child & Adolescent Terraces.

Designed by Toronto-based Quinn & Associates, with project manager Luke Kairys, the terraces provide outdoor seating overlooking a green roof, creating a calm and quiet environment. Surrounding the perimeter of both terraces are planters from Swiss Pearl by Eternit’s customline, all made to fit within the construction and layout of the terraces and offered in a natural Anthracite colour to blend in with the natural look. 

These fiber cement flat stock planters were chosen over the standard cast in place concrete planters, which have been historically linked to cracking and leaking over time. Eternit’s unique composition protects both the planter and the plants in it, and is backed by a 10-year frost warranty.

Perfectly complementing the planters are six sleek, Thomas Steele courtyard table and chair sets from the Ashton series. Made with a perforated top and recycled PBC seats, the heavy duty materials offer long term protection and are backed by a 20-year steel integrity warranty and 20-year warranty on PBC slates.

Landmark by Crozier also equipped the outside of the hospital with Neenah Foundry’s Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI's) to ensure accessibility to patients and visitors with visual impairments, which meets the demands of the upcoming AODA Legislation.

“This project is a showcase to prove that the products distributed by Landmark by Crozier will stand the test of time and will deliver the performance required for a value-added investment,” said Brian Bekkers, Manager of the Landmark Division.

The hospital, built by PCL along with CRCE working as the landscape contractor, is scheduled to open for patient care on October 18th, 2015. Stay tuned for photos of the terraces at the grand opening!
